DIY - Sneaker Sandals

My sister Katie had a nice pair of Vans sneakers, but she loved them so much they wore out within a season. She couldn't bear to part with them, so she decided to make them into sandals. We decided to get rid of the tongue, cut out the toe, and cut out the sides, but leave the great white stripe.

All done!

I like these sneaker sandals for a number of reasons. First of all, they are self-made and completely unique! But they also follow several high fashion trends in shoes right now: gladiator styling, laces, and ankle cuffs. But it's still clear that they're made out of a sneaker - maybe we'll start a trend!

  1. Geneva, you didn't tell me you started your blog! Booo!!!! Anyway, I think it's super cool what your sister did with her shoes. They remind me of designer sandals, but I can't remember the name. I'll be adding you to my blog roll, missy!

  2. I really like the sandals. They'd look even better if you cut out the lip on the front so that the toes are exposed.
